The locomotive Baroneza made Brazil’s first rail journey and served the Estrada de Ferro Petrópolis (later called Estrada de Ferro Mauá) – a railway built at the initiative of Irineu Evangelista de Souza, the Baron of Mauá, and inaugurated on April 30, 1854. This photograph from the 1920s features a group of railway workers with the Baroneza. |
